Recycle your books

Count the number of books you have in your home and office – and you ‘ll be surprised. Collect all books – from your children’s fairy tale books, coloring books, school books, magazines, novels, cooking book, phone book to business books – how many did you get? The numbers might make you amazed, as most of us don’t expect there were so many books in our life. We don’t even think of how many books we have bought because we can afford them, and once read, we tend to abandon these used books. But try to remember this: each of those used books was once a tree in the forest. The price we paid for the book did not include the environmental cost of chopping down a tree nor the pollution generated during the book production. None of us – the loggers, the paper mills, the publisher, the bookstore owner and we, the book buyers – can calculate the price of the environment impacts.

With the global warming effect we are facing now,it’s perhaps wiser to reduce our need of printed books and change it to e-book; but what will we do to our precious used books? Do some eco friendly way to treat them, to repay the harmful way the books are published.
